Laura Smoliar

Dr. Laura Smoliar is the General Manager of Amorphyx's AMNR-LCD Consortium, the commercialization program for transferring the company's AMNR-LCD technology into mass production in large-area LCDs.  Laura's experience in display and materials science-based startups and her extensive network in Asia Pacific’s technology industry bring key benefits to the company.  Laura has led multiple Silicon Valley-based startups specializing in lasers with successful exits to leading companies.  Her consulting firm, Global Innovation Foundry, provides business development services to technology startups with business models involving customers and markets based in Asia Pacific. 

Laura holds the AB in Chemistry from Columbia University and the PhD in Chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley, where she worked under Dr. Yuan T. Lee, Taiwan's first Nobel Prize winner in chemistry. In her final year of PhD work, Laura worked at the Institute for Atomic and Molecular Sciences in Taipei, and subsequently became an Academia Sinica Fellow, splitting her time between Hsinchu and Taipei.
